Platte Update
The trails are sweet and the bacon is crispy!
Platte is a little shaggy on the weeds and grass side but very rideable. The nettles are not stinging you for some reason in the few areas where they do reach out to touch you...nothing but good.
The trail is flowing smooth and fast just about everywhere. Didn't go down the gully, took the bypass out by the fenceline.
One tree obstacle in the Yun 2 area that requires a dismount. Trail leader notified and developing a removal plan.
There is discussion about a week night trimming party in the next couple of weeks...Stay Tuned. One good trimming will probably carry it till the fall with any luck.

Platte Update 15 June 08
Platte was in great shape this morning before the storm hit and I was forced to seek refuge in the resturant with a big plate of Bacon!
Avoid the gully for a little while, there is still running water the farther you go down. Take the blue trail left which brings you up to the fence line trail just before you finally commit to the bottom of the gully. Its a trail not normally used by folks that ride the gully all the time. It takes you up thru some trees to a fence line and some single track that turns into double track, really fast down hill to the trail head marker.
Platte definitely weathered all the storms really well.
Thanks Jesse and crew.

Platte River SP (6 May 08)
Conditions are superb for riding at Platte.
The trails will dry quickly due to all the hard work the trail crew put in several weeks ago, they cleaned all the small sticks and logs away from the edges to allow water to drain off and make it easier to run weed eaters.
Several new reroutes or line improvements also took place so don't be surprised when you spot some new sections. Heads up for the new black jump just past the rock garden area, easily bypassed to the left (marked) if your not into big big air.
You will see yellow ropes across several of the trail entrances, these are meant to keep the horses out of the single track areas not hikers or MTBers.
Get your Marathon legs going!

Swanson Trail Day for 26 April Off.
The Swanson Trail day for this Saturday (26 April) is off the calendar.
A tremendous out pouring of volunteer effort for the last couple weeks has fixed up most of the long winter damage and rerouted several sections that just aren't drying out anytime soon. Most of this just couldn't wait and folks were available for impromtu trail work, big thanks to all of them and their efforts.
Last weekend was huge for THOR supported MTB trails. Crews spent both Saturday and Sunday clearing out fallen trees and fixing up the trails at Platte River State Park. Most of the fallen logs were removed from L&C. And of course a big crew at Swanson.
A tremendous amount of work has gone into Tranquillity Park last week with many of the new corners adjusted for better flow and Doug benching in the new trail near the pine trees. Jewell has a new bridge and been cleaned up a bunch too.
We are estimating the next Swanson maintenance for sometime in June to start trimming up the eye poker sticks that will grow into the trail as Summer approaches and also some sections will probably need some weed wacking to keep the trails from overgrowing.
There is a non-THOR clean up event at Manawa trails on Saturday if you so inclined.
