additional route down nerverest - apr 17

I flagged a route last Fall to remove the 2 way traffic on Neverest, and to bring an entrance and exit onto cement entrance at Lewis and Clark. Hope to have IMBA and other THOR members check out the proposed route while they're here for Adam's Park.

L&C Trailday is Sat. Apr 17, 2010.
Start at 9 am.
Mcleods, loppers, pulaskis to dig out stumps, shovels.

May work Sunday afternoon, Apr 18, if not finished. I am lining up highschool volunteers for Friday morning, Apr 16, to work on the flatter sections.

Proposed trail starts just west of current trail at entrance gate. Go down Neverest west (left) of current trail to flats and up and old trail to current ridge trail to 4 corners and down left and rest of course.

At 4 corners coming back, cut new trail about 10' or so east (left) of ridge trail and hook up to current trail just past southbound traffic. Go down left turn but instead of making hard right onto Neverest, keep momentum going straight and take 4(?) switchbacks to get to the end of the aborted reroute, then finish on current trail to gate.

I've coordinated with Todd, L&C trailleader.

Mana-Swamp - 2010

Once again, the Missouri River is out of its banks and flooding the Lake Manawa mountain bike trails. When these photos, the word is that the river has crested or is cresting.

From the levee, it looks like post of the trail system is under water.

Tranquility Trail Conditions

***trail update***
Trail should be good to go wed 3/24 barring anymore moisture. Still some soft spots to be careful of but in pretty good shape overall. Get it while it's good!
******************

Walked about 60% of the trail today and it is in amazing shape. Thanks to our dedicated crew for putting in the extra effort in the fall to make sure we wouldn't have any of the drainage issues that we experienced last spring. There are still a few greasy and soft spots to watch out for in the treed section of the trail.

With that said...have at it! With a forecast of sunny and 60 tomorrow, the trail should be in great riding shape by the afternoon. I would advise taking an easy first lap to check out the greasy areas. I didn't get to walk the entire trail, so if you run into any issues please let us know. As always, if we get snow/rain this weekend, the trails will again be un-rideable till they dry out.

Let's get out and ride!!!!!

Trail Building School

THOR along with Activate Omaha is hosting a trail building school taught by none other than IMBA's Trail Care Crew. And you are invited! Learn how to build, repair, and maintain sustainable off-road recreational trails in your area.

The Trail Building School is being held on Saturday, April 10th. For more information go to the Trails Have Our Respect web site. www.TrailsHaveOurRespect.org

In addition to the trail school, THOR is planning a fun-filled weekend. Watch for more information.
